Push Notifications

Push notifications are messages that are sent from Mythradon to a user's device. These notifications can be triggered by a variety of events, such as receiving a new message or an update to a calendar event. They can also be used to alert users to new content or features within an app.

Push notifications are delivered directly to a user's device, even if the app is not currently open. This allows them to stay informed about important events or updates in real-time.

Push notifications can be delivered to a variety of devices, including smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches. Users can typically control the types of notifications they receive and how they are delivered through the settings of their device or the app that is sending the notifications.

Push notifications provide a quick communication channel for companies to send messages, offers, or other information to their customers. Subscribers can receive these notifications even if they are not currently using the app or website, as long as they are online or have their device's browser running.

Push notifications typically include a title, message, image, and URL. Choosing an appropriate image and using emojis can help communicate your message more effectively. The following illustration shows the components of a push notification:

Setup Push Notifications

In order to use Push Notifications each user will need to perform the following:

  1. Enable their browser or device to accept Push Notifications from Mythradon
  2. Subscribe to Push Notifications from within a Browser

Push Notifications take advantage of two new web APIs (Application Programming Interfaces):

  • Notifications API
  • Push API

Subscribe to Push Notifications

On a Computer Browser and/or Android Phones

Each user that wishes to receive Push Notifications needs to perform the following:

  • Select Preferences from the Menu Button
  • Click the Subscribe button in the Push Notification section
  • Your browser will then prompt to allow notifications from the specific instance of Mythradon

Note: You will need to repeat this for all Mythradon instances that you have access to. i.e., Productions, Development and Testing could be separate environments that you use.

On Apple iPhones

Apple iPhones do not support the ability to subscribe to notifications from a browser or Progressive Web Application. The alternative is to use an SMS message.

  • Select Preferences from the Menu Button
  • Check the Fallback to SMS checkbox in the Push Notification section
  • Your iPhones will then receive notifications from the specific instance of Mythradon via SMS
