Data Privacy¶
Your customers have legal rights when it comes to their personal data. In Australia, the Privacy Act 1988 governs the handling of personal information. In Europe, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies similar protections.
What is Personal Information?¶
Personal information refers to any information or opinion that identifies an individual, or makes it reasonably possible to identify them.
Examples include:
- Name
- Email address
- Postal address
- Phone number
- Driver's licence details
- Signature
- Fingerprint
- Photos or surveillance footage
- Comments about an individual
- Financial details
To be classified as personal information, the data must be recorded, and it counts even if it's not true.
Some information is considered sensitive and is subject to stricter legal protections. This includes:
- Racial or ethnic origin
- Political opinions or affiliations
- Religious or philosophical beliefs
- Trade or professional association memberships
- Union memberships
- Sexual orientation or practices
- Criminal history

Note
Many of the fields listed above are not standard in Mythradon. However, users can create custom fields to suit their needs. Be sure to understand the privacy implications before adding custom data fields.
Managing Personal Information in Mythradon¶
Mythradon allows you to view and erase personal data for specific records, including Contacts, Leads, and Accounts.
In the Entity Manager, administrators can flag specific fields as containing personal data. This functionality is available for standard entities like Contacts, Leads, and Accounts, as well as for custom entities based on the Person type.
Default Personal Data Fields¶
By default, the following fields are identified as potentially containing personal information:
Contacts & Leads:
- Name
- Phone
- Address
Accounts:
Viewing Personal Data¶
In the detail view of a record, you'll find the View Personal Data option in the menu next to the Edit button.

From this view, users with edit permissions can erase selected personal data fields.
Access to this feature is controlled by Data Privacy Permissions, which are assigned through user roles. Regular users will only see or use this option if their role includes the appropriate permission.
Marking a Field as Personal Data¶
In addition to the default personal data fields, administrators can designate any custom field as Personal Data via the Entity Manager.
To mark a field:
- Navigate to
Administration → Entity Managerfrom the Menu Button - Select the relevant entity from the list.
- Click Fields, then select the field you want to update.
- Check the box labeled Is Personal Data.
